Share Schmare

Remember when I said we were going to
try to have the kids share a room?
I heard "it's never going to work" from a lot of people.

Because Walt was still sleeping in his crib when Ruby was born,
Ruby moved into a pack-n-play in our bedroom.
And honestly, that's where she's been ever since.

Walt transitioned to his big boy bed earlier this summer
and he did great at first. But he did end up struggling with
walking into our room in the middle of the night.
When that would happen, he'd end up back in his crib,
just so we could all keep sleeping.

And Ruby hasn't been a great sleeper so far.
She has slept through the night, but is so inconsistent!
I started to give up on the whole "share a room" idea
and we recently painted a bedroom downstairs for Walt.

But tonight, this happened -

Take a good look, my friends.
What you see here -
is Walter and Ruby sound asleep IN THE SAME ROOM!

Tonight was the first time I ever even attempted it
and it was sooooooo easy!
They were both ridiculously tired, so I had Walt crawl into bed
and he laid there nicely while I rocked Ruby and fed her a bottle.
She was still awake when her bottle was gone,
but I just popped her into the crib,
said good night to Walt and left.
I had no idea what was going to happen next.
I stood outside the door and heard them rustling around a bit,
but after that I never heard a peep!
They were both out cold within 10 minutes.
When I snuck in to take some pictures as proof,
 they slept through that too!

Go ahead, congratulate me.
Call me Mother of the Year.
Wait - on second thought,
let's see how the rest of the night goes before we get too excited.
