Walter's Bedroom

First let's look at his dresser -
Here is the before:
and this is the after:
And here is Walter's dresser in its new home:
Walter's big boy bedroom!
We got this cool rug for him to play cars on -
as well as this easel from IKEA that has
a chalkboard, a paper roll, and a white board -
and a cute little desk from his cousin.
We've still got work to do,
as there's nothing on his walls yet,
but his room has come a long way.

I so wish I would've had the video camera on
when Walter saw his room for the first time.
What was I thinking?
Clearly, I wasn't.
we told Walt to go downstairs,
but he had no idea why.

He insisted on riding his new scooter down the hall
right up to the closed door of the old guest room.
When I opened the door,
he audibly sucked in his breath
as his eyes got big,
then he let out a big squeal
and ran inside to check everything out.
It was adorable. It was awesome.
It will just have to be remembered
because I didn't record it.(bad mother)

This pictures is a bit blurry because
he was busy running around inspecting everything.
He grabbed his bucket of toys
and dumped it all over the floor.
Next he scootered around on his rug -
and played cars on it.
Last but not least, he tried out his easel -
a future Picasso.
He was so excited to go to bed in his room that night -
and he's been doing great down there ever since.
It was such a fun gift to give
Walter a big boy room for his second birthday.
Even though I failed to record it,
I'll never forget his reaction.

Pumpkin Party

Last weekend,
Walter got invited to a neighborhood pumpkin painting party.
Here he is with all of his pals -

Creating a masterpiece!

He had a great time
and is pretty proud of his pumpkin.

A New Home for W's Clothes

Walt needed a dresser for his new new room.
My mom had this one she said I could make over.

Challenge accepted.
First we removed the drawers -
 and the hardware.
Next we started sanding -
and sanding -
and sanding.
Followed by priming -
and finally -

PAINTING!
We chose "Maple Leaf" by Behr and
painted all day.
Then all we had left to do was attach new hardware -
put everything back together -

and stick it down in Walt's bedroom.

Big Boy Room

This downstairs bedroom has been home to a guest bed -
and not much else, since we moved in.

I had plans for it, but never got around to doing anything.
The walls were still white, with nothing hanging on them,
and it may have sat this way for who knows how long -
but then Walter started sleeping in a big boy bed and
though sharing a room with Ruby worked,
it seemed time to get Walter downstairs in his own space.

So it was time to get this room decorated!
We hatched a plan to have
a big boy room all set up for Walter's 2nd birthday.

To start, I picked him out a new duvet from IKEA
that offered me numerous colors to work with.

But the color I liked the most
was the soft gray lines that all the colored flags hung from.
I found the perfect shade for his walls -
 It's called Sparrow by Behr.
So we busted out the frog tape,
and got all set up to paint.
 And when I say "we"
I mean Adam.
 I picked out the color,
but he did all of the painting.
Much like this episode.

And once again -
he did a fabulous job!
More of Walter's room to come.
